The Easy 3-Step Feedback Method You Need to Try (momma taught me)
Today, I'm gonna tell you how to get feedback the shell, yes! way***.
Years ago, fresh out of college, I was feeling overwhelmed with my first "real world" job.
Did you know I worked at Nordstrom when I got out of school? It was supposed to be temporary but turned into a four-year gig. I never thought I'd work there as a manager, leading a team of over 20 with responsibility for over a million dollars in biz a year in my little department. But I did and I actually loved it.
I wanted feedback from my team about how they felt things were going.
Luckily, my mom (who was a total rockstar organizational development consultant) shared a simple but powerful feedback method with me that completely changed the game.
It's called Start-Stop-Continue, and let me tell you, it's like having a magic feedback wand for your business!
I actually used this again today to gather some feedback from people who purchased my "How I Taught Diane to Use ConvertKit" training. We're five days in and I wanted to check in.
The thing I love most about this feedback method is its simplicity!
You ask your people these three simple questions - what would you like me to:
stop doing?
start doing?
continue doing?
This is just one of the methods I use. I have a few others up my sleeve. If you're curious about them, let me know and I'll tell you more. Just reply to this message.
***What is the "shell, yes!" way?
It's a twist on getting a -ell, yes moment. A shell, yes! moment is getting a win - doing something easy, breezy, light, and simple. Then, you stack it up with other moments just like it...and, voila, you have a ton of momentum! Shell, yes! (As you might gather, because I like the beach so much, I love shell analogies).
