Build a Thriving Business: Uncover Your "Real"

From Velveteen Rabbit to Entrepreneur

The past few days on our walk through the woods, we've seen bunny scooting about in the bracken. One day when I was walking alone, bunny sat up and just stared at me.

It made me think about one of my favorite all time children's books, The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams.

If you aren't familiar with the story, you can listen to it here for free (with Helena Bonham Carter reading).

Thinking about this story reminds me of how we can often feel like we are overshadowed by others. It's that imposter syndrome and doubt that creeps in.

In the story, the Rabbit thinks the flashier toys are "real." He couldn't be real because he doesn't have all the clockwork like the others.

We often doubt our own capabilities and feel we have to be perfect in order be a success. The rabbit's worn fur is just like our fear of "failure" or not being good enough.

Just like the story, reality couldn't be further from the truth.

It's when the Rabbit realizes it's because of all he's been through, how he's loved and been loved by the boy, that he is real.

Some other parallels from the book for you to noodle on:

  • Your connection with your prospects, clients, and students is just like the love that exists between Rabbit and the boy. It's those shared moments and being there for each other that strengthens the relationship.

  • It's all about the journey. Having a successful business is a journey filled with challenges. The Rabbit's journey is ultimately rewarded and yours can be too. Sometimes, like the Rabbit, it's just a matter of persevering.

  • In the story, the Skin Horse guides the rabbit. He's a wonderful mentor and guide to Rabbit. I'm here to serve you in this way. To help you stack lots of "shell, yes!" moments to get massive momentum.

Uplevel your marketing with ease and grow a profitable business.

If you feel tangled in a web of overwhelm, with marketing, platforms, tools that don’t work and systems that fail, it’s time to get you unstuck.

Let’s get you to “shell, yes!” momentum!
