Captivating Content: Craft Copy that Catches Clients, Not Cats

Ever wonder why that adorable cat video gets a million views while your marketing copy struggles to be heard? The secret might not be catnip, but a shift in perspective. Today, we're diving into the power of crafting copy that focuses on your ideal client, not you.

Why Ditch the "I"?

It's tempting to fill your marketing with "I" statements: "I'm launching a new course," or "I'll help you achieve your goals." But here's the thing: your audience isn't as interested in you as they are in themselves and their aspirations.

When working with clients on their launch emails, sales and landing page, and website copy, I challenge them to remove the “I” completely. It’s not an easy task! But, the end result is always copy that’s more client-centered and best of all, converts better.

Benefits Over Bragging

By removing "I," you're forced to reframe your message. Instead of announcing your service, get right down to the feelings. Focus your copy on how your offer will improve and transform their lives and how it will feel when they get to that place.

Then, highlight the benefits it offers. For example:

Instead of: "I offer personalized health coaching programs."

Highlight the feeling and the benefit: "Imagine waking up with boundless energy, feeling confident and in control of your health. That's what a personalized health coaching program can help you achieve."

This reframes the message from simply stating your service to painting a picture of the transformed life your client desires. It taps into their emotions and highlights a tangible benefit - feeling energized and in control of their health.

Unlock the Power of "You"?

Here are some tips to get you started:

  • Focus on pain points: Identify the struggles your ideal client faces and address them directly.

  • Embrace the benefit-driven approach: Frame your services as solutions, not features.

  • Speak their language: Use words and phrases that resonate with your target audience.

  • Action verbs are your friends: "Transform your business" is more compelling than "I offer business transformation."

Watch Your Copy Purr!

By ditching the "I" and focusing on the "you," your marketing copy becomes more engaging, impactful, and client-centric. Give it a try and see the difference!
