4 Tips for an Effective Welcoming Video for Your Searchie Course or Membership
You’ve probably heard me shouting from the rooftops about how Searchie is the best place to host your online courses and memberships. From searchable transcription to personalizing the user experience, Searchie satisfies both you (the user) and your clients.
But there’s one aspect of creating a course of membership that I want to make sure you don’t overlook, and that is creating a welcome video. Here are four tips for making an effective welcome video to ensure that the client gets off on the right foot.
Greet Your Clients Warmly
Your welcome video may be the first time your clients have watched you speak “in person.” Make sure to show enthusiasm, confidence, and gratitude for their investment. However, be sure not to go over the top: there is a line between being grateful that the client has chosen you and acting like you’ve never had a client before. They chose your program because you’ve got great information to share with them, and you’re delighted to share it with them and see them benefit from it!
Share the learning path that your members or students will experience. Let them know what they will gain from participating in the program; how they will go from where they are at today to where they want to go. Let them know that you—and the rest of the program community—are behind them, rooting and cheering them on.
2. Lead a Tour of the Searchie Hub for the Course or Membership
A video tour of the site is a great way to ensure that your client understands all of the features of your Searchie-powered program. For example, you can show them how to access the learning modules, community engagement area, and other “places” in the Hub.
Be sure to show them how to search for keywords so that Searchie can take them straight to the content they’re looking for. Demonstrate how to access the material via multiple media (video, audio, or transcripts).
3. Show Clients How to Get Help
Your Searchie course or membership may have an FAQ area. If so, point that out during your welcome video. In addition, show them how to contact you or your team if they have a question that isn’t covered in the FAQ.
Show the client where their payment and subscription information is (in the case of a membership) so they can update their payment method. And while you want to retain members long-term, you also need to provide them a way to terminate their membership. They’re clients, not hostages!
4. Set Expectations
Finally, take a moment in your welcome video to set your expectations for the client. If you feel strongly that they should do the modules in order, then say that. If you want them to feel free to cover the material in any order they choose, let them know that.
If there is a community aspect to your course or membership, be sure to set expectations for community standards of behavior. This will lead to positive community engagement free from bullying or trolling.
