Why Searchie Is The Best Platform to Host a Video Course
First, What is Searchie?
It’s an unusual name for a platform, isn’t it? But it’s a well-chosen one. Simply put, Searchie is a search engine for your own content. For entrepreneurs who produce large amounts of video and audio content, managing all that content can become challenging fast. Searchie allows entrepreneurs, business leaders, educators, marketers, and content creators to easily store, present, sell, and get maximum benefit from their library of content. Searchie is an online platform that provides video hosting, automated transcription, video search services, and so much more.
In my opinion, Searchie is the best platform to host a video course. I have a lot of experience with using Kajabi and Teachable, and after a few years of getting deeper and deeper into my work with Searchie, I’ve come to see how Searchie can be an affordable alternative to Kajabi and how it can do some things that Kajabi and other course-hosting platforms can’t.
Why is Searchie the Best Platform for Hosting a Video Course?
You better sit down, because I have a sizable list of reasons! Here they are, in no particular order:
Easy, Easy, EASY to Use
Yep, that’s three “easy’s,” because it’s incredibly user-friendly. Some people feel more comfortable getting some help to get their Searchie Hub up and running initially (and I offer several levels of help, ranging from free resources to VIP-level, I-do-it-for-you). And yet every one of my clients is able to run and maintain their Searchie Hubs with little to no outside help from then on.
Also Easy: Creating and Uploading Videos
Your course is going to be chock full of videos, right? So it’s imperative that you use a platform that makes creating and uploading these videos easy rather than a chore.
It’s super easy to create your video content for Searchie online course. The absolute easiest is to use the Searchie Chrome extension. This browser extension allows you to film video from your computer, whether that be videos of you speaking, taken from your computer’s webcam, or videos of your screen while you take your audience through a presentation on the screen. Another great thing about videos created via the Searchie Chrome extension is that they don’t count toward your upload cap.
If you have previously recorded videos that you’ll be importing for your course, this process is swift, and all of the videos will be quickly transcribed and ready for captions and/or transcripts to make your course more accessible. And if you’re conducting live sessions via Zoom or Facebook Live with your students, these can be set to automatically be uploaded into a specific part of your Searchie Hub as soon as they’re concluded.
Playlists and Tagging Save You Time
In your Searchie Library, you can create playlists of content. You can also create playlists within your Searchie online course (for example, a learning module with a series of videos that play in order). By adding Searchie tags, one video can appear in multiple playlists with the simple addition of a tag.
For example, let’s say you’re creating an online course for new knitters. You may have a video about how to cast off (how to get that knit object off the needles when you’re done) that belongs near the end of the lessons about creating a sweater. But that casting off video is also a great addition to your resource library, so you can simply add that tag to it. Now your students have two places where they can encounter this information.
Searchie Makes Learning Fun
Online courses (well, any adult education) runs the risk of recidivism. People are busy and they can drop out. Searchie helps prevent this by making learning more satisfying. For example, you can use Searchie Achievements to recognize and reward your students for completing certain tasks and reaching various milestones. Searchie also has gamification features that can provide your students a dopamine hit as they reach new levels and complete tasks.
Searchie Gets People Talking
A new Searchie feature that’s in beta right now is Searchie Hub Comments. This provides a forum for conversation and feedback at any point during the student’s progress through the course. This can allow you to interact with your learners, discover any friction that your students are facing, and provide your students a chance to easily communicate on a specific topic rather than leaving the lesson and going to a community forum.
It’s Not Just Videos That Are Searchable!
Another exciting new feature of Searchie is the ability to upload documents such as pdfs, assignments, guides, glossaries, etc.—and they become just as searchable as the videos. This way, a student who is using the Searchie Search bar to look for a specific thing (such as “casting off,” as in our knitting example) will be presented with all mentions of that topic, both in videos and in your written materials.
Searchie Can Do Way More Than Simply Host the Course
You can attract potential students by using Searchie to offer a free lead magnet. This free video or minicourse gives the prospect a taste of your teaching style while it provides them with value (and gets them onto your email mailing list).
Searchie can be used for your course’s sales page, taking the student from interested or curious to a paid client. The Stripe integration makes the whole process very easy. Searchie also makes it easy to offer add-on sale options, from one-on-one coaching sessions with you to a paid digital product such as a guide or ebook.
Searchie is the Way to Go for Course Creation
Are these all of the reasons why Searchie is the best platform to host a video course? Nope, I could go on and on with more reasons, but I believe I’ve hit the biggest reasons without exhausting you with an overly-long post.
