Searchie’s Chrome Extension Extends YOUR Power
Whether you’re already using Searchie to create and host your Searchie online course, Searchie membership, or other online offering—or you’re doing some research to see if it’s right for you, I want to be sure that you know about a free Searchie feature that’s a real gem: the Searchie Chrome Extension.
You may have some experience with adding extensions to your Chrome browser. It’s super easy, isn’t it? In my video below I show you exactly how to install the Searchie Chrome extension and demonstrate its functions and uses.
But What Does the Searchie Chrome Extension DO, Exactly?
The Searchie Chrome Extension allows you to record your screen while simultaneously recording your voice (if you want) and webcam footage of your face while you speak (if you choose). If you choose to include webcam footage of your face as you speak, you can move the circular video anywhere on the screen and choose between a small, medium, or large circle. How big or small of a talking head do you want to be for this video? There’s no wrong answer.
As you’re recording, you can pause the video if you get interrupted or need a break, and then resume recording. You can choose to record your full desktop (which is helpful if you’re bouncing between tabs and applications as you speak) or your current tab only (if this is a presentation or something that does not involve switching between tabs and applications).
You can select different video and audio input sources, which is a great help if you’re using an external webcam or microphone.
What Are the Uses of Searchie Chrome Extension Videos?
What’s the best thing about Searchie Chrome Extension? Once the recording is complete, it automatically gets uploaded to your Searchie account. If you like, you can change the name and add a thumbnail image. Then you can send a link to the video to someone or utilize it in the same ways you would for any other Searchie content: add it to a playlist, use it as a video in your Searchie online course or Searchie membership program, etc.
For example, you can:
Record a presentation: Walk your viewers through a slide deck. You can be a disembodied voice, or you can use your webcam to present a circular video showing you as you speak.
Give detailed instruction to clients or team members: I create these videos for onboarding new team members or to communicate important messages for my team. The recipient can watch the video as many times as they’d like or use Searchie’s search feature. I find that this is a very clear way to walk someone through processes and procedures. It’s way more effective than sending a long email!
Create a lesson—or an entire course! One of the big messages that I yell from the rooftops is that creating an offering in Searchie (like a Searchie course, Searchie membership Hub, or Searchie coaching program) can be fast and easy. You can make it fancy, but you don’t need to! I believe that it’s better to get your content out there and focus on bells and whistles later—especially if you’re trying to gauge the market response to your offering concept. I know a lot of people who created their entire Searchie online course using the Searchie Chrome Extension. I applaud that! You can use the transcripts as a downloadable resource to accompany the video, if you like.

Yes, the extension is free, but also the videos that you record with the Searchie Chrome Extension do not count towards the video time limit for your plan. This is especially important for those who are on the Searchie Basic or Searchie Pro payment plans, where you have a limit on the hours of video you can upload each month.
