Nuts and Bolts: Transitioning from Kajabi to Searchie

I used to be a big Kajabi fan, until Searchie turned my head.

But it’s easy to get completely frozen like a deer in headlights when it comes time to make this transition. How do you do it? When is the right time to begin? Cold-turkey or a gradual process?

I hope to clear some of these questions up for you in this post.

Easy Option: Use Searchie Only for Video Content

If you’re happy with Kajabi but you want to harness the searchability, captioning, and automation of Searchie, then the easiest solution is to keep Kajabi for your course or membership platform and simply use Searchie for hosting your video content.

You can embed the Searchie widget into Kajabi so that your Kajabi platform has a Searchie search bar. This gives your customers the ability to search keywords throughout all of your video content! If they remember you mentioning “marshmallows” or some other word but they have no recollection of which module or lesson it was, they can simply type the word into the Searchie search bar and instantly be shown the exact moment that word was mentioned.

Using Searchie in this way will also allow you to automate the uploads of things like weekly Q&A Zoom calls or Facebook Live videos. It’s a real time saver!

Continue Processing Payments Through Kajabi

Let’s say you have a substantial quantity of members whose monthly payments are processed by Kajabi. If you really want to transfer your membership to Searchie, you can ask them to sign up for the different platform and resubmit their payment information. Any people paying with Paypal will need to be handled this way. Stripe people can be integrated using the native integration. However, you will very likely lose some members in the process—it creates work for them, and some will simply use this as an opportunity to drop out. You may want to incentivize them by offering a free month of membership when they transfer or some other bonus.

It may be worth it for you to create the new membership platform in Searchie and transfer the members to it, keeping Kajabi going to process their payments. Kajabi isn’t cheap, so it’s all a matter of numbers: how many members you have and what their monthly payments are.

Start Fresh in Searchie

The last option you may want to think about is to create a totally new membership in Searchie. In this case, you may want to change the content and name of the membership, using all of the experience and knowledge you’ve gained about your audience and their needs. You will design this new, exciting, upleveled membership and develop a timeline for sunsetting your Kajabi membership.

Provide a sweet deal for your current members to motivate them to join the new membership. Then make a clean break from Kajabi and enjoy your new Searchie membership!
