Keep Your Clients Engaged with New Searchie Onboarding

Searchie Onboarding Sets the Scene for Success

How many movies have a scene showing a character walking into a party? A lot. You know why? It’s a relatable feeling.

Are they confident before they open the door? Or are they nervous, wondering whether their crush will be there, whether the music will be awful. Wild or mild, the scene is set for what is about to happen next.

Does your Searchie membership help new members make their entrance? Searchie Onboarding helps your members feel at ease as they walk into the awesome party that is your membership. When you put Searchie Onboarding to use, you create an “activated customer” that will spend 23% more with you.

Searchie Onboarding Happens at the Front Door

Your members (or learners, if you’re running an online course) will go through onboarding as part of the checkout process. They’ll set up their password to your Searchie Hub, and then they’ll be presented with your onboarding selections.

You’ll go to the Onboarding tab in your Searchie Hub to set this up. There, you’ll “add step” and then “add element.” The elements you add can be a video (such as a welcome video) or a question. The questions can be short-answer, multiple choice, true/false or yes/no toggles, or number or date entry.

You can create as many onboarding questions as you would like or need! Some suggestions:

• “What’s the best way to connect with you?” They can list their social media, website, or email

• “What country do you call home?” then, “Share your state, province, and/or city”

• “What is your birthday” (enter the year as this year…we’re just looking for month and date)

• “Are you looking for accountability?”

• “What would you like to work on most?” (you can list things related to your course, membership, or coaching here)

• “What best describes your industry/niche/area of expertise?”

• “Would you like to meet up with fellow members?”

Each answer is an attribute for this user. You can use these attributes to sort clients with similarities, such as a list of all clients within a certain US state who have a business of a similar size. An exercise coach may be able to compile a list of their clients who are postmenopausal women who have had breast cancer and want to increase their flexibility.

If you set the attributes to be publicly viewed, your members can connect with each other by searching for peers in Searchie’s Audience Directory. For example, the exercise coach would likely make questions about menopause or health history private so only the coach could see it, while allowing members to search the Audience Directory for participants in their local area or with similar training goals. This helps members find friends and support!

Make Your Searchie Onboarding Welcoming and Clear

You essentially “force” your members to participate in Searchie Onboarding tasks when they first arrive at your Searchie Hub.Once they get through the onboarding tasks, they “unlock” the Searchie Hub content. But make it welcoming and fun, rather than a gauntlet they need to run.

Begin with a welcome video that is warm and friendly and tells them why onboarding is important. Make it clear what the next step is for them, and show them (ideally with graphics) where they are headed. This can help them see that they are making progress and will soon get to “the good stuff” they signed up for. You can also do a site tour, giving them a quick view of what they’re going to experience when they enter the Hub.

Perhaps you’ll have them take an assessment during onboarding, which can allow you to deliver the content that they most want or need. Or maybe you want them to go to your community forum and introduce themselves. Make it quick and easy for them to dip their toes in with these onboarding tasks.

Make Searchie Onboarding Fun!

Set a party-like atmosphere for your Searchie Hub. Encourage your members to introduce themselves with ice breakers. Create opportunities for your members to connect with each other. Create custom hashtags for use in your community forum so your members have a "secret language" to bond over.

You can even turn the onboarding tasks into a game by creating a Bingo card of these newbie tasks. Who can get BINGO first? Perhaps there can be a small prize for that member.

Be the Host with the Most

Running a membership is like hosting a party. You have the responsibility to create a warm and lively atmosphere for your guests! It’s important to level up your Searchie Onboarding so you make your members feel wanted, included, and appreciated from the start.

Think about the best party you ever attended…memories were made, shenanigans went down and you were all in. (Not that your best friend told us what happened but the #pineappleincident was 😳🤣 ). Have fun with your newly onboarded members!

If you’re champing at the bit to host your membership but your blood runs cold at the thought of actually setting up the membership site, let me unburden you: I provide turnkey Searchie Hubs for my VIP clients, so they can stay focused in their zone of genius!
