How (and Why) to Add a Playlist in Searchie
Playlists are a critical feature of Searchie, allowing you to upload a piece of content once and easily deliver it in multiple contexts. Searchie playlists also provide your clients with a Netflix-style watching experience, where they are led through video content in the order you have prescribed. In this post I’m going to walk you through the process of adding and sharing a Searchie playlist, but first I want to talk about the why.
Why Create Searchie Playlists?
As you may know, Searchie is all about helping you organize and efficiently deliver vast quantities of content. Searchie playlists are a big part of the organization! There are two kinds of Searchie playlists: Searchie Hub playlists (which remain in your Searchie Hub and are not shared outside of the Hub, such as content for an online course) and Searchie Library playlists (which reside in your library and can easily be shared with people outside the Hub (for example, you can send a link to a playlist to a prospective client or a team member). Searchie Hub playlists’ privacy is controlled by the Hub’s privacy settings; Searchie Library playlists can have individualized privacy settings. One last difference: attachments can be added to Searchie Hub playlists but not to Searchie Library playlists.
You can automate the addition of new content so that it uploads into the proper playlists. For example, you can use Searchie’s integration with Zoom to add your live Q&A calls to the playlist(s) that you want the recording to be in (one piece of content can reside in any number of playlists). Set it up once and you’re done!
Let’s say you’re a fitness coach. If you create a video teaching a certain exercise such as crunches, you may decide to add it to a playlist for 5-minute exercises, a playlist of ab exercises, a playlist of beginner exercises, and a playlist of exercises that can be done in a hotel room. This way, you are creating lots of opportunities for that video to be seen and learned from, and you will be able to easily use it in your Hub or future Hubs.
How to Create a Searchie Playlist
Creating a Searchie playlist could not be easier! Here are the steps:
Step 1: Head to the Library
First, go to your Searchie Library (via the navigation bar on the left) and click on “Playlists.” A box will pop up asking you to name the playlist (don’t worry; you can change the name later on) and then click “Create Playlist.” Off to an easy start!
Step 2: Add Media to that Searchie Playlist
Open your new playlist and click “Add Content.” Where can you add content from? You can:
Add a piece of content from your Searchie library
Upload a piece of content from your device
Record a new video using Searchie’s Chrome extension
Automate the addition of new videos by selecting file tags or folders (this is how you do the automation I mentioned before, so all Zoom sessions go straight to a certain playlist, etc.)
Step 3: Sort and Customize Your Searchie Playlist
Searchie’s drag and drop feature makes it easy to move the content around into the order that you want. You can also fiddle with the playlist’s name and description. Then select the settings icon so you can:
Add a thumbnail image for the playlist
Automate the addition of new videos using file tags or folders
Select privacy settings for the playlist
See data about the usage of the playlist
Step 4: Share the Searchie Playlist
By clicking the Share icon, you’ll be able to preview your playlist and share the playlist in several ways:
A sharable link
Embedding the playlist into another platform
Converting the playlist into a podcast
Adding the playlist to a Hub
Searchie Playlists are a Snap!
That’s it—I’m sure you’ll agree that you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to create and use Searchie playlists! That being said, some entrepreneurs are just too busy to take on the task of setting up playlists when they’re getting started on Searchie. That’s why my Build My Searchie Hub VIP Experience is such a game changer. While you stay focused in your zone of genius, I’ll be in mine, creating your Searchie Hub and the related playlists. Once I hand over the reins to you, you’ll easily be able to maintain your Searchie Hub from that point on.
