Five Tips to a Successful Landing Page: Get Yours Built Today

Here are the five tips: Keep it simple. Use movement. Make a one sentence offer with a problem and a solution. Spur interest with a freebie or a trial. Show an important stat or figure.

I found an example to help walk you through the five tips. It's an Airbnb landing page. You may say, is this it? Well, yes! It is. It's perfect. Too many times, we overcomplicate. (I include myself in this bucket - ask anyone who knows and loves me!) So if you're stuck and you don't really know what to do, or you're feeling like, "I don't know how to get a landing page up", it doesn't have to be complicated! It doesn't have to be a super long page with section upon section upon section. In fact, it really shouldn't be. It can just be one section within a simple offer. So, now there's really no reason to not get a landing page up!

  1. Keep it simple. It can be an image. It can be a graphic in one section of a website. That's it. If you use a service like Canva*, you can easily access one of the images to help tell your story.

  2. Use movement. You can have a opt-in box pop or fade in or a button move. Just add some interest to the page. And most websites do that nowadays. You don't have to make it obnoxious. It can be subtle. Again, just keep it super simple

  3. Make a one sentence offer with a problem and a solution. In this example, the problem is people need to earn an income. The solution is renting your house or apartment. They make this clear in two very simple sentences. . .actually, not even a sentence there, it's not even full sentences.

  4. Spur interest with a freebie or a trial. You can offer a freebie. Here are some examples: checklist, guide, tips sheet, video, challenge, worksheet, audio, recipe, mistakes to avoid, workbook, game, contest. Or, you could offer a trial of your product. There are so many ideas - get creative and have fun!

  5. Show an important stat or figure. This is a way to grab your readers attention and draw them into your page. Stats are easily understood, interesting, and often entertaining. Look for something that answers the question, "why should someone want to read/know about this?" In the Airbnb case, they used the average income people make for rental in that area - it was a very eye-catching amount. It fit the narrative of solving the problem, too.

By the way, you don't even have to do all five of these. You can just do a few. Okay? Put up your landing page today. What's the risk? If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Take it down, try something new.

I'd love to see your page when you're done! Send me the link so I can check it out.
