How to Create a Custom Contact Form in Squarespace

Have you ever been to a website that had no contact page? A lack of a contact page makes a business seem sketchy. And yet a contact page can help you maximize the conversion of your website! Your contact page can be utilitarian or it can be custom-designed and complex. Make sure that you create a custom contact page that works for you.

Squarespace’s Contact Form Options

Squarespace offers you a degree of customization when you create a contact page. You are offered a map block, text blocks, form blocks, and spacer blocks. Within each of these, there are options. For example, you can choose for your map to be a satellite view or a black and white map image. You can move the blocks around or delete a block (for example, there’s no point in having a map for my business because I meet with my clients virtually, not at my location).

In the form block, you can capture a prospect’s email address and other information. By default, the content of the form will be sent to the email address that is attached to your Squarespace account. However, you can go to “form and newsletter storage” to direct Squarespace to send the contact form entries to a Google form or to your newsletter service, such as Mailchimp.

It’s important to customize the reply that prospects or clients will receive after the form has been filled out. Acknowledge that their form has been submitted, and provide a timeframe for when they will hear back from you.

Customize Your Form with Acuity

It’s possible to tweak the look of your contact form in Squarespace using code, but many users find that to be outside their comfort zone. No worries! You can easily customize the look of your contact form using Acuity Scheduling, which is owned by Squarespace.

Acuity is easy to use, and remarkably rich. You can create a complex contact form from one of their many templates, and within each template you can zhuzh up the look of the form. The customizable templates allow you to provide quotes, gather feedback, sell subscriptions or products, gather information for new customers, set appointments, take payments, and more.

Set Appointments

Another way to take a prospect from poking around your website to sealing the deal with a face-to-face appointment is by using Acuity Scheduling or Calendly on your contact page. This allows a potential client the ability to request a meeting with you by selecting one of the time slots you offer. You can customize this further by asking them to tell you what type of service they’re interested in or to tell you a bit about themselves. Once you’re face to face with the prospect on a live call, you are close to making them a client!

Make the Most of Your Contact Page

Your contact page can be simple, if that’s what fits your business. But customizing your contact page can powerfully convert your website visitors into clients. Make the most of it!
