Starting Searchie with a Small Win

I had the pleasure of interviewing Sarah Sproule, a sexuality educator who helps parents build ongoing connections with their growing kids by showing them how to have open, natural conversations about sensitive issues like sex, bodies, where babies come from, consent, and more. These are things that parents need to talk to their kids about throughout their childhood, in age-appropriate ways—but they don’t always know how.

Sarah offers a course and membership that are all about slow, steady steps. Much of Sarah’s work is about reducing parents’ overwhelm. Her goal is to safely, calmly, and gently lead parents through the steps. This helps parents slowly ingest the materials and use the lessons to grow their skills and confidence.

Using Searchie to Make a Powerful Listbuilder

Sarah first used Searchie to create a lead magnet that she’d wanted to make for years. In my interview with Sarah, she says that if she’d known how easy it was to make it, she would have done it much sooner!

The lead magnet is called “Let’s Explain,” and it gives parents tiny, concrete steps for explaining sex to children. It consists of five videos, and it takes about 15 minutes to watch (or listen to—Sarah added a podcast version of each video, so busy parents can listen on the go.

Using Canva to Get a Great Design

The design of the Hub and thumbnails is simple, clean, and appropriate to the audience. How’d Sarah handle the design? She went into Canva and found a presentation that looked like a happy, childlike design. She selected four of the slides so that she has thumbnails that are cohesive but varied. It’s a terrific look! Sarah also integrated the color scheme with the one she was already using on her website.

Sarah added a video introducing herself, which is a great way to further the know-like-trust progression. Ultimately, the goal of this listbuilder is to gain followers who will later enroll in her membership program, the Evolve School. In the membership, Sarah uses Searchie to educate parents with over 250 videos that are tagged by subject and age group.

Searchie Transcription Makes for Easy Handouts

Sarah cleverly made use of Searchie’s transcription feature to easily create professional-quality handouts. She took the transcript of each video and edited them for accuracy and visual appeal. Then she added thumbnails in her Hub that link parents to the PDFs of each transcript. What a great way to offer content to users in multiple ways!

Start Searchie with a Small, Powerful Win

When asked for her advice to new Searchie users, Sarah suggests starting with a small project, like she did with her lead magnet. She says that this gives you a win that will enable you to take your new knowledge of Searchie to move on to a larger project

Sarah highly recommends heading to Canva to select a presentation that aligns with your branding to make Hub design a snap.

How can you use Searchie to create an incredible lead magnet? Starting is as simple as turning your camera on and recording a video of you talking—that’s how Sarah began!
